1 DAY JINJA RAFTING EXCURSION
Rafting is one of the most entertaining tourist attractions that one cannot afford missing on his trip to Uganda. Rafting in Uganda is solely done in Jinja town specifically on R.Nile.So this adventure is so ecstatic and really fun.
So this fun day activity starts early in the morning whereby you wake up very early in the morning and have your cup of tea. Then you will be picked up by our tour guide for a drive to Jinja in the Eastern part of the country through the district of Mukono and Buikwe. The drive continues past the city then to Mabira forest on the Kampala-Jinja highway.
This drive is scenic taking you past several tea plantations of Lugazi and farmlands. The drive lasts about 2 hours such that by 9 AM you will be already at the starting point of this activity particularly at Kalagala where you will again have a heavy breakfast in preparation for the hectic activity ahead plus a practical briefing by the expert rafting team.
Then its here that you are given the equipments to use like helments, live saving jackets and the oars. You will be taken through various rigorous tips like holding on to the boat during rapids, jumping to kayaks during rescue. So from here you will be distributed to the farious boats depending on your total number and then head to the actual activity by getting into the wild rapids of the Nile River for the rafting adventure alongside experienced guides and kayakers. Several hours will be spent on this adventure before breaking off for lunch on the Nile courtesy of the welfare boat that comes on distributing food and refreshingments.So those that are doing a half day rafting experience will end here and return to Kampala.
For those doing a full day rafting, after lunch you will proceed on your rafting expedition getting to Itanda falls which are very hostile and you can’t go through them. You will get off the boats and lift them and pass through the river bank in order to dodge these falls. Then after you will get back onto your boats and row until the end point where you will reach around 4pm.You will be served with barbecue and beers plus sodas as a way of congratulating you for completing such a hectic activity and you will be given copies of your videos and pics of the entire expedition as everything was being captured by the crew.
After being filled with this experience, you will jump onto your safari jeep and embark on the drive back to Kampala which could take much more time depending on the traffic within the city. You will be dropped off at your place of residence or at the airport if your flight is due and this will mark the end of this 1 day white water rafting.
